Saying hello again
by EdenOne injust saying i’m still alive and greeting everyone, veterans and newcomers to this forum.. 2018 was a year with a lot of turmoil in my life; me and my wife separated, then reunited months later, and spent the second half of the year healing the emotional wounds from that episode.
that, along with a record year in terms of my business meant that choices had to be made regarding my time, and i decided to focus on my marriage instead of other endeavours.
it seemed to have paid off.

Emotional Moment...
by babygirl30 inyesterday i was looking to share a pic with a friend of mine, and i swore it was in my photo albums (i have 3).
so i start going through them, and i see so many jw pics!
i had a huge group of friends when i was 'in', and so there is just pic after pic of assemblies, dinners, game nights, rbc projects, my family and the house i grew up in, people from the hall, etc.

When I look at pictures of JW days I see a needy, self important religious fanatic sought by sycophants who wanted the assurance that comes from surrounding themselves by uber dubs. Even my closest friends were all based on doctrinal purity. What a tool. Don't get me wrong, I cared about people but I was seeking acceptance and self assurance I was worthy of friendship. "Wasanelderonce" was the result of recognizing I am not that anymore and that it was a waste of time. Of course not all was a waste, I learned alot... mostly about myself. I think I have distilled to a better place. I am not worthy of their friendship any longer and I am so pleased that is the case! Most pictures I threw in the bin.

Quo Vadis ..2019
by zeb inwell friends what is before us in the coming year?.
i often end my postings with 'live long and prosper in wisdom and health.
' this live long quote is taken from star-trek and it was the late wonderful leonard nimoy who suggested it from his orthodox jewish background.

At what point would you lose your consciousness and reality?? (really being explored on TV shows now)
by Bad_Wolf inmany recent shows and movies are showing and exploring people having their consciousness absorbed into digital form or transplanted to younger clone bodies to extend life.
parts of our brain can be cut or damaged, but we are still us.
our bodies can be replaced with artificial limbs but we are still us.

This has always been my complaint about dying and going into nonexistence and then resurrected. If we go into "Non existence", then the person is done, gone. So when resurrected they are a new creation with the software plugged back in. They say we would be alive in Jehovah's memory and he would recreate an exact copy. A copy is still a copy. The original is GONE. Resurrection always sounded stupid to me.

It's a big decision and I applaud you honesty and courage in making it. I guess it could make you nuts if you didn't. I wish you peace with all your family and hope they are slackers when it comes to shunning. Good luck fognomore.

Enlighten me If you can
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara inconfusing standards or hodge podge?.
what is this about beards i never got the hang of from day one?
are beards ok or not?.

The main reason I understood that it was not recommended is that it does not represent the look of a minister of God. They said that if our appearance were a stumbling block to others it was unacceptable. In the 60's in the U.S. a beard was a symbol of rebellion. As ministers we would not want to portray rebelliousness like Satan.
A brother I knew in the 1990's who came from Germany originally had a van dyke beard. They were on him about it and he said, "its OK in Germany and there are no hippies anymore so I'm keeping it". He did, but they wouldn't let him serve in any capacity. He said he didn't really care about the beard but he loved making the brothers crazy so he kept it. My kind of guy. He was a born in too by the way. He had a stubborn German streak in him.

The Society even admitted they had a problem with their pedophile leaders.
by new boy inoh, yes, the society even admitted they had a problem with their leaders.
a january 1, 1986 watch tower article (p. 13) stated: “shocking as it is, some who have been prominent in jehovah’s organization have succumbed to homosexuality and child molesting.” .
in the watchtower article, they didn’t disclose the rest.

Didn't any of you regard some CO's and DO's as "prominent" in Jehovah's "Organization"? I don't think that they were necessarily intimating it was a GB member, just anyone with prominence. I'm not defending, just pointing out that we can't fixate on what we want to expect. The sheer fact that they never take responsibility for ANYTHING done wrong by them is enough to believe they were not referring to themselves.

Grieve what? Death? Learning the truth about the Truth and the subsequent realization you've pissed away a lot of your life? Gotta be a little more specific. Thanks.
